HELL YEAH! Everything is fixed, I have install mysql-connector-c-shared-6.1.6-1.el6.x86_64.rpm and thas remove SQL compilation error.

Yes, more documentation is needed ... feel free to contribute one! :-)

1.) Yes, you need all libraries to start the executables.
2.) We have only dynamically linked binaries under Linux now.
3.) The debug symbols are activated in the default settings at the moment. Maybe we will add more features regarding debug/release builds in the near future.
4.) HAVE_MYSQL is now automatically set - depending on your system setup. You can not deactivate it manually at the moment. Maybe we will add this possibility again.
5.) The old build script was deleted in the meantime. So, further confusion is avoided.

Yep, I am updating the docs (as usual), you can see the changes on my "cmake" branch on github.

I have noticed one more thing while testing the cmake on a just cloned folder: boost libraries are no longer automatically uncompressed. Is there a reason for this?

@Docs: It would be nice if we integrate this in the official source tree. Could you place a pull request for this? (btw.: Your last request was pretty huge. In general, it's easier for us, if you use smaller request. So, we can do faster reviews on small code snippets.)

@Boost: There are still some open questions for the new CMake build system. The "boost question" is one of these. I believe it would be better to use - under Linux - the system specific version of boost instead of the built-in version to benefit from most recent official fixes in boost. However, this decision depends on the stability of the boost API. If we do not track API changes, the POL source might not build any longer as soon as the boost library gets updated in the distris.

@Docs: well, the pull request was a small one when I started it, but github is automatically adding every subsequent push to it. At the moment, it also does not merge cleanly because some of the "cmake" commits included refactoring/reindentation. I have managed to review them all and solve conflicts in my "cmake" branch, but I am still testing it prior to merging into master. It will then merge cleanly again. Anyway, I don't think you need to merge the whole at once, but you can also only merge up to a certain commit... or at least you could before the "cmake" merge. Apart from putting max effort on writing understandable commit messages and paying attention to not modify more lines than needed by automatic refactoring/reindentation so that "git diff" output is clean, I do not know how to help the merge process further: if you have any recommendations, please just tell me.

@Boost: I think it would probably be best to try to stick to latest release, but ship them with the source, so that boost-compatibility will be a thing less to worry about. In my experience, linux distros may have huge differences in library versions: some shipping latest beta/unstable ones, others shipping deprecated ones some years old. Anyway, I also think I am not skilled enough to give good advice on this :)

aderal: sometimes when things gets weird, a "make clean" can solve many issues (basically deleting all the intermediate files and building again from scratch), did you try it?
