Error with ORE.CFG

Post by JeanLuc »

Hi Guys

Im having trouble to start the newest POL 97 version:
POL Converted [April 22, 2007 - 03:14PM]
POL Core [April 15, 2007 - 01:24AM]
also tried
POL Core [March 30, 2007 - 03:07PM]

When starting POL with STARTHERE.BAT, POL tells me following error when starting up:

Error reading configuration file regions/ore.cfg:
Realm not found
Element: Region Background, found on line 144
Server Shutdown: load_resource_cfg

When I remove the region BACKGROUND, it tells me that the next region cannot be found, and so on.

ORE.CFG:

Code: Select all

# Note, regions found later in the file override those found earlier.

Any idea?

Thanks for your help

EDIT:
I just forgot that I didnt changed any file but POl.CFG before starting the server. So its a blank installation just with the two given POL packages I told you at the beginning, copied into each other. I only changed in POl.CFG the path to my UO directory.

Thank you.

I used the convert tool to get my blank realm working.

But now I have another problem with doors.

Ive copied all my POL 95 version DATA directory files into the new one and they seem not to work proberly. When opening a 'two doors' door they open to the middle, and one is not able to walk threw an opened 'one door' door.
Both door types open into the wrong direction.

Any solution for this?

Ive tried to use the converter a second time to solve this problem, but didnt help this time :D

Thanks

Since you converted I'm betting you still have MoveItemToLocation in open_door.src. Change it to MoveObjectToLocation.

If this is the case then i recommend that you recompile all your scripts to catch any other conversions you need to do.

Ive checked my OPENDOOR.SRC file and my CLOSEDOOR.SRC and both use MoveObjectToLocation().

OpenDoor
MoveObjectToLocation(door, newx, newy, newz, MOVEOBJECT_FORCELOCATION);

Any more ideas?

I think I remember, I had the same problem with my POL 95 project setting up. I dont remember what I changed to get it work.
Maybe there is some kind of wrong statics file?

Thanks

Ive copied all my POL 95 DOORS directory scripts to my POL 97 and doors work quite fine now, even with MoveItemToLocation() in their scripts.

Looks like possibly using the submitted 095 conversion to 097. If so, the problem is in that line of code

MoveObjectToLocation(door, newx, newy, newz, door.realm, MOVEOBJECT_FORCELOCATION);
